What is it?
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is the most frequently used thermal analysis technique. DSC measures enthalpy changes in samples due to changes in their physical and chemical properties as a function of temperature or time.
Manufacturer: NETZSCH
Model Name: DSC 214 Nevio
Applications: Melting temperature and Enthalpies, Polymorphism, crystallization, cross lining reactions
Instrument Overview: DSC measures the change in heat-flow difference into a sample and a reference material while they are subjected to a controlled temperature program. In a heat-flux DSC, the difference in heat flow between sample and reference is derived from the temperature difference between sample and furnace and reference and furnace or between sample and reference. Differences in heat flow arise when a sample absorbs or releases heat due to thermal effects such as melting, crystallization, chemical reactions, polymorphic transitions, vaporization and many other processes. Specific heat capacities and changes in heat capacity, for example during a glass transition, can also be determined from the difference in heat flow.
