What is it?
NANOIR2 determines thermal properties and infrared spectral information of materials in the nano-scale. Provides information such as chemical/ functional group identification, glass transition temperature (Tg), or melting temperature (Tm).

Applications: Chemical analysis of semiconductor devices, interface analysis of composite, organic nano-contaminant on metal surface, and thin polymer film.

Instrument Overview: A pulsed infrared (IR) laser is irradiated on sample surface and the corresponding photo-thermal induced resonance of the AFM cantilever is detected to determine IR spectra of surface features, by sweeping across a range of IR wavelengths. Also possible to use special AFM probes to locally ramp the sample’s temperature to measure and map thermal transitions and other thermal properties.
